In early 2005, a new interagency organization was established, at that time it was called the Federal Disability Program Committee. Since that time the name has changed to reflect the more inclusive nature of the group, including all stakeholders in federal disability employment.
Throughout its short history, the FDWC has endeavored to provide high quality learning sessions and working meetings on disability employment related topics.
Highlights from recent meetings include:

May 2007 – EEOCTown Hall Meeting Ideas, Dialog, Action: Brainstorming with Christine Griffin on LEAD Hosted by Department of Commerce
July 2007 – Internship Opportunities for Students with Disabilities Hosted by the TARGET Center, USDA This meeting focused on recruitment from college student populations. Ms. Ginny Stern from the American Association for the Advancement of Science described the work of her organization and the ENTRYPOINT, an internship program for students with severe or targeted disabilities focusing on STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). She discussed how the ADA and other disability laws have positively affected the current generation of students with disabilities graduating from colleges, or who will soon be graduating. She also touched on how science and technology fields are attracting more and more students with severe disabilities. A second presentation on the topic of internships for students with disabilities was made by Jennifer Croft and Jeffrey McCaffrey from the Department of Commerce.
